Rhenium-SCT is designed to provide a non-invasive radiation therapy option with improved cosmetic outcomes in a painless, single-session treatment. It is a highly effective treatment for which published studies show a complete remission in 98.5% of all cases, rivalling other non-surgical approaches that sometimes carry the stigma of being less effective than excision.
A/Prof Sid Baxi, as lead investigator of the EPIC Rhenium-SCT in Australia, shared his insights into the innovative and life-changing skin cancer therapy, covering Rhenium-SCT as a new addition to the armamentarium available to skin cancer care practitioners to offer their patients when appropriate.
In the webinar, A/Prof Baxi discussed:
- the criteria for patient selection:
- the patient experience;
- procedural aspects and costs involved; and
- case studies of recently treated individuals.
As the EPIC Rhenium-SCT study reported on its first cohort of experience, A/Prof Baxi shared those results and engaged in Q&A around this treatment to help practitioners decide on the right treatment for the right patient at the right time so that practitioners can consider this as a treatment option from time to time.
