Trichoscopy is the dermoscopic imaging of the scalp and hair. It can be a useful tool in the differential diagnosis of conditions such as hair loss and alopecia.

Alopecia areata (an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss) affects about 1 in every 1,000 children and teenagers. It is the third most common dermatosis in children.

In this video, Dr Piccolo applies trichoscopy to a series of real patient cases and describes the dermoscopic and clinical characteristics used to diagnose various classifications of alopecia in children.

He also explores papers highlighting important new research in the field of trichoscopy for paediatric alopecia.

Learn about all this and much more in the full video below.
